Dolly was introduced to Pilates in 1994. Her passion for Pilates led to more extensive study of the Pilates Method and Certification through the rigorous training and prerequisites of Pilates Core Integration (PCI). The PCI instructor training program, led by Virginia Nicholas, is based on the classical Pilates Method used by master instructors Eve Gentry and Michele Larsson, who respectively, are first and second generation students to Joseph Pilates. Dolly is a member of Pilates Method Alliance (PMA), the international association which fosters community, integrity, and respect for diversity, establishes certification and continuing education standards, and promotes the Pilates method of exercise. As a strong advocate of continuing education, Dolly has completed advanced training for Level 5 Advanced Pilates, Scoliosis, Mobile Spine, PCI Anatomy in Clay, and more. In addition, Dolly participates in monthly PCI conferences. What people like most about her classes are that they are always challenging, innovative, and engaging. Expect diversity and variety. She has a great way of teaching the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of each exercise through precision-oriented instruction. “It is the mind itself which shapes the body.” -Joseph H. Pilates
I began practicing Pilates while attending Auburn University and playing lacrosse. I quickly realized that it was a great supplement to my lacrosse training and it taught me to calm and focus my mind. I was hooked.
My practice helped me become resilient to injuries that sidelined other players for months. After graduating college and moving to Atlanta, I kept up Pilates while taking up running and yoga. I noticed how well Pilates complimented other sports and helped counter the effects of sitting at a desk. Having never been a distance runner I credit my Pilates practice with helping me complete five half marathons. When the opportunity to study Pilates arose in 2009, I jumped at the chance and completed my Mat Certification. I love helping my students reach their goals and finding new ways to challenge them. Enhancing the well-being of others through teaching is my passion. I am lucky to have worked with a variety of students of all levels and backgrounds. From new students to Yogis, from professional athletes to new moms, I am so grateful to my students for enabling me to do what I love!
