Mysore - All Levels Ashtanga with Iri
Mysore is the most traditional way to learn Ashtanga Yoga, a system of yoga popularized and brought to the west by Pattabhi Jois in the mid-20th century. It uses vinyasa to connect movements and postures with breath and introduces the concepts of drishtis (concentration or focus points) and bandhas (locks). This class is recommended for new and experienced students alike. You can come at any point during the class time to practice and stay for as long as you need. Everyone moves at their own pace with individual guidance and hands on adjustments from the teacher. The ashtanga yoga sequence will be taught to the student, pose by pose, if they are new to the practice.
Hello Ember Community! My name is iri :). I found ashtanga yoga accidentally, in my second yoga class ever. And it was mysore. There was no music, and everyone seemed to be doing their own thing, and I was very... confused. But needless to say, after that one class - I pursued yoga teacher training, and I never looked back. I have practiced and taught yoga for the last six years and the mysore style truly holds my heart, forever. I am a student first, but as a teacher, I come humbly to the community to share this magical experience with you guys to open a door, and inside I hope you'll find a warm and supportive environment. I'll be here starting on Tuesday's at 6:00 - 8:00 am in the yin room!
Breathwork + Yoga Nidra with Christina G
Breathwork and Yoga Nidra. Yogic sleep, a practice that is deeply healing, restful and rejuvenating. Quiet the mind and release bodily stress and tension. A great class for beginners and advanced students, props will be available to make you comfortable.
From Huberman Lab, "Non-sleep deep rest, or NSDR, is an umbrella term for a variety of practices that guide your brain and body into a state of deep relaxation without falling asleep completely. Yoga nidra (also called yogic sleep) is a more specific practice, typically involving a body scan or guided meditation while lying down…Breathwork is a compelling illustration of the mind-body connection, where conscious control of the breath (e.g., through physiological sighs) can influence your mental state, reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.”
